Here's an enhanced, utilitarian structure on a top-most deck. I thought it would express my feelings best if I lined up the real and artificial horizon lines, so I mounted the camera on a tripod and pressed the shutter button, but the resulting image on the camera's LCD screen showed that the horizons were misaligned. I adjusted and tightened the tripod even more, but the next exposure showed no improvement! Disturbed that my fancy tripod was failing me, I finally realized that the boat was very slowly rocking side-to-side and the real horizon was continuously changing. All I had to do was time the exposure to the brief moment the alignment was perfect. It's interesting that this apparently static scene required the same sense of timing required for many of my people shots. This is a lounge area overlooking a large, midship pool. This is a lounge area overlooking a large, midship pool. Here's an enhanced, utilitarian structure on a top-most deck. I thought it would express my feelings best if I lined up the real and artificial horizon lines, so I mounted the camera on a tripod and pressed the shutter button, but the resulting image on the camera's LCD screen showed that the horizons were misaligned. I adjusted and tightened the tripod even more, but the next exposure showed no improvement! Disturbed that my fancy tripod was failing me, I finally realized that the boat was very slowly rocking side-to-side and the real horizon was continuously changing. All I had to do was time the exposure to the brief moment the alignment was perfect. It's interesting that this apparently static scene required the same sense of timing required for many of my people shots.
